Project SC2 has been off the radar for awhile now. We have stagnated
in fixing some of the issues and have not put any upgrades in
for longer than we would like to admit. We have a new "Top
Secret" engine build in the works. The motor is on the stand
and in teardown mode right now. Sponsors are being sourced for
parts. Hopefully we will be able to do a step-by-step buildup
series so you can follow along at home with your motor.
We will have some cosmetic changes coming about soon as well
as some motor and suspension upgrades. We had a problem with the
hood scoop pictured above cracking where it was bonded to the
steel hood. This will be remedied in the not too distant future.
The scoop has been ripped off and will be re-bonded with the proper
structural adhesive. NEVER shortcut when you are working on a
hood. It is amazing how much heat the hood on a sport compact
is exposed to. We have also removed the Sprint Extreme lowering
springs in favor of the less "extreme" Sprint Sport
Springs. The Sport springs are a better match for the KYB struts
that we have on the car. In the future we will be attempting to
source some Carrera strut housings so we can have a larger range
of suspension options. Due to the tires we are running we cannot
install "true" coilovers without offsetting the wheels
a large amount. The Carrera housings will allow us to install
Koni or Carrera strut cartridges and take advantage of the higher
rate springs available without feeling like we are riding a pogo-stick.
Lastly we will be looking at a less extreme wheel and tire combo
that will give us the traction of the 225 Falken Azenis, but without
the wind resistance and unsprung weight penalties of the extra
wide tire.
Updates will be slow in coming, but we will keep you posted.
